Energy method is used to solve the problem of critical stresses in sandwich plates subject to shear loads. Since the deformation over entire thickness of the core was taken into consideration (contrary to the well-known theories [1, 2]), the present theory can beused without any limitation for the plates of arbitrary dimensions with cores made of foam-type isotropic materials. The results of numerical analysis are given in table 1, 2 and Fig. 4.
