First nine natural modes and frequencies of a helicopter tail rotor blade are calculated and compared with results of resonance tests. Experimentally determined distributions of mass, moments of inertia and stiffnesses are used as input data. The blade is divided into eleven segments and considered as a system of discrete parameters. Six mathematical models of the blade are analysed, the effects of rotational inertia of individual segments being taken into account. Conclusions drawn from the analysis concerning the propeller blade mechanics may also be applied to determine the dynamic characteristics of other mechanical systems.
