Main purpose of the paper is to show the way of derivation of two different forms of equations of motion for a fluid-saturate porous solid i.e. the equations similar to those presented earilier by Biot (1956) and by Derski (1978). However these equations and their interpretation are sometimes questionable. Departing from the mass and momentum balance equations we discuss the pertinent motions taking into account the effect of couplings through the mass, variation of porosity and the components density. A controversial definition of the partial stress is also discussed in the paper.
